Originally, The Lion King opened in November, 1997 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The Lion King show moved to the Minskoff Theatre in June of 2006. The Lion King is currently at the Minskoff Theatre in New York and at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The Lion King is also on tour at various venues around the United States.
